Grocery Game

Ok, so I've been wanting to try this for a long time. I've finally signed up for the free trial of The Grocery Game. It's a service that promises to find you the lowest prices at the store(s) where you shop. It combines the sales with coupons and helps you stock up on stuff when it is really cheap, versus spending full price when you actually need it.

It's really not hard. I already clipped coupons anyway. Actually this way, I don't even need to clip unless the list tells me to.

So I gave it a try this morning. I just went small. I didn't want to get overwhelmed or confused with a big list. Also, I only had about 30 minutes before Caleb needed to be back home for his nap.

So here is what I got:
Yes, as you can see, many of the items are women's products...but who doesn't need those? :)

I got face wash, hair gel for David, two packages of pads, pantiliners, tampons, a listerine pack, two toothbrushes, toothpaste, and dishwashing detergent for an amazing price of:
$7.64!!!!

Pretty good deal, huh? I think I saved around $20-$25. The face wash alone is $5.39 at the regular price. A couple of the things were completely free. I'm excited. I've heard this can be addicting.

Since I'm not working outside the home anymore, it's good to make our money stretch. I'll be posting more of my savings as I branch out and try more things like food. Thanks, Kelly, for passing along the info!

Umm....where did my son go?? I only left the room for less than 10 minutes, and I came back and he wasn't on the floor where I left him.

Under the bed??!! Can I ask how you got under there when you're not even able to crawl yet?? And how did you not hit your head? Ok, time to start thinking about baby-proofing the house.

New toy

Here is Caleb trying out his little Jumpster. He doesn't really have the jumping thing down yet, but he seemed to like to be able to "stand" and twirl independently.

Manly Things

I love when David gets to do boy stuff with Caleb. Partly because I think he needs some variety from doing girl stuff with me all the time: shopping, watching me do make-up and hair, watching me do domestic stuff around the house, singing and dancing, etc. (not that boys can't sing or dance). :)

So here are some things David and Caleb have done in the last few days:

Caleb,
I want to treasure the memory of last night as I was putting you to bed. We laid down on the bed to read your books like we usually do. You always look at the book as I read. Last night you had one arm behind my head and your fingers were sweetly touching my neck. You looked at the book, then you looked at me reading to you. You concentrated on my face and on the words coming out of my mouth. You looked back at the book. Back at me. Studying me, and staring sweetly with a little smile...all the while, tickling my neck with your cute little fingers. I usually let you hold the book when we're done. I gave it to you, thinking you'd grab it with both hands like you usually do. But you just grabbed it with one hand, and kept the other on me.

When I swaddled you up and gave you a kiss on your cheek, I told you that I love you. You looked at me and smiled with that little half smile you do when you have your pacifier in - showing just one dimple. I melted.

And I put you in your crib to go to sleep. I stayed looking at you where you couldn't see me. You cooed and mumbled to yourself...kicked your legs to get comfy...looked around your crib... And because we're trying to get you used to falling asleep on your own, I did everything I could to restrain myself not to pick you up and rock you to sleep in my arms. You're growing up already. Such a sweet boy.
