I'm so cool...

First sign Caleb is going to be so cool...he looks awesome sporting a mohawk!

On the other hand, he couldn't take his eyes off of the camera. So maybe he'll really be into technology and be nerdy like us. ha!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Well, we didn't go all out, but you'll notice Caleb is wearing some green on his onesie to escape getting pinched. :) He's 1/8 Irish - he obviously got that part from me, but he didn't get the red hair to go with it...yet. We're still holding out to see what hair color he ultimately ends up with. It's gotten a little lighter since he was born.

If you see a red mark under his eye, that's the result of long nails and flailing hands. I managed to trim his nails yesterday, but believe me, that's no easy task. I have a feeling this active boy will have many more scrapes, bumps and bruises in the years ahead. :)

He is 5 1/2 weeks old already! Time has flown! When we went for his 4-week check-up, he was already up to 9 lbs, 9 ozs and 21 inches...growing boy! He's in the 25th percentile for both weight and height.

David is traveling to St. Louis this week for work, and he'll be gone for 8 days. Hopefully we'll survive ok without him. My dad is coming next week to paint Caleb's room for us. Yeah, we procrastinated a bit. But it's not all our fault since Caleb came two weeks early! I'll post pictures later of the finished room.

Checkin things out

This is the first time I've seen Caleb get interested in a toy. Usually he just stares at faces or lights and shadows. But today he locked eyes with the turtle hanging above him. So cute! I guess he's growing. It'll be fun to see him discover more things. And, this means he can entertain himself a little bit while mommy takes a shower or eats lunch! :)

Bath Time!

Yesterday we gave Caleb his first big boy bath! Until now, it's been sponge baths. But his umbilical cord fell off, so now we're allowed to submerge him in the water. He fussed a little at first...probably confused. But he really liked the water once he was in it!
He is so cute I can't stand it! Seeing that face makes up for his fussy times and my lack of sleep. :)
In other Caleb news, he's getting so much stronger! He's trying to hold his head up, and he's constantly moving his arms and legs. When he's awake, he's so much more alert. He's still on a 3-hour eat and sleep cycle. I hear from other friends that there is a light at the end. Hopefully in a few weeks we can get that to a 5 or 6-hour cycle. We have his 1-month appointment next week, so I'm anxious to see how he's growing! :)
