Ranch and Beach Weekends

Wow, we're a jet-setting family!  Well, not really, but we sure have been keeping busy.  After the wedding weekend, we visited a friend's ranch the weekend after that.  And the following weekend we went to the beach in Galveston to celebrate my mother-in-law's birthday.

Ranch Weekend Round-up:
Boys having fun playing in the bin of corn.

Going for a ride in the MULE.

Checking out the dried up riverbed.

Caleb preferred to stay in the MULE with me.  :)

They had lots of cows on the property.  Nathan's favorite thing was to point them out, and then say, "Hey cow!  Look-a-me!"

Both boys loved riding on the 4-wheeler.

It was the first time we've ever had the boys sleep together.  They slept on the blow-up mattress.  While there was about an hour or so of giggling before bed both nights, they did really well.  Nathan woke up early the first morning (we think he was scared from not recognizing where he was), so David went on the floor and slept with them a bit.

At nap time I had to stay in the room and keep telling them to close their eyes and rest.  They only slept about 40 minutes, but at least it was something!

Caleb even got up to go to the bathroom during the night, and didn't bother Nathan.  This is how I found hims sleeping the second morning.  He must have been tired because Caleb was up bouncing around, and it took quite awhile for Nathan to wake up.

We had a fun weekend!  A ranch is definitely a wonderful place for boys!

Beach Weekend Splash:

It was Nathan's first time at the beach, and he LOVED it!  He just smiled pretty much the whole time, and talked about the soft sand.

Uncle Danny and Daddy took Caleb in the water a bit, while Aunt Sarah played with Nathan.  Caleb wasn't a fan of going out far in the water.  On the way to the beach, some of the questions he asked, "Daddy, do you like to go in the ocean?"  "Daddy, are there sharks in the ocean?"  "Daddy are there fish in the ocean?"

Apparently this is a tradition now.  This is Nathan being tossed in the water.  Remember the one of Caleb two years ago?

Building a sand castle with Uncle Danny.

Aunt Sarah brought a kite.

After the beach we went to a restaurant for lunch.  It was right across from Pleasure Pier, which wasn't there two years ago when we went.  But it was fun to see all the amusement rides and people.  We ate on the balcony upstairs, and the boys had fun watching the cars, motorcycles, and buses go by.  We even saw a man on a unicycle!

It seems the end of September is the perfect time of year to go (for me, at least).  It was sunny and breezy.  Not too hot, but warm with a cool wind.  We had a wonderful time!

Nathan's new saying

Nathan started this new thing where when we ask him a question, he'll say, "Uhhhhhhhhh, yeah."  Or "Uhhhhhhh, no."  It's so funny.  And I don't know how or why he started doing it.  And of course since he knows we think it's funny, he does it even more.  Caleb asked him in the car if he liked chocolate, and since we don't think he knows what that is, he just said, "Uhhhhhh....uhhhhhhhhhh..."  :)  (Side note: Caleb is into asking those kinds of questions now.  He'll ask me, "Mom, do you like pirates?"  ha!  Or, "Do you like sharks?")

So we got Nathan saying it on video.  He wouldn't do it at first because he was too focused on which color bowl he was getting his yogurt in.  And he didn't do it as long as usual.  A lot of times he'll hold the "uhhhhh" for a long time for comical effect.

My toast - eek!

Best Father/Daughter Dance Ever!

They started out slow dancing, then broke out into a choreographed dance medley!  It was the best!  I'll upload the video later if I can.

Party time!

Nathan was up having fun the whole time.
Caleb was crashed out on my shoulder most of the night.
I still boogied on the dance floor holding him though!

Chris, his mom, and brother

Wiped out!  Too much fun!  Wish we could do it all again!
