Photo-a-day: day 30
We were so happy to find out there were some bluebonnet patches close to our house! After attempting our pictures, there is no way we could have driven any farther to get them! It's always a little chaotic to find a good spot, set up the tripod, and wrangle the kids. But I think we did it!
I wish I would have had more time to pose the boys and take artistic pictures, but I had to take what I could get. They just wanted to run around like crazies in the field. I was thankful enough that they sat for the family picture. We even let them take turns pushing the remote for the camera. I'll post some of those cute pics later.
Here was our attempt at a brothers picture. Since it looked so silly, I had to add some thought bubbles.

Photo-a-day: day 29
We made an Easter garden today for Good Friday. It's a hands-on activity we've done for the past 3 years to tell the story of Jesus dying on the cross and rising from the dead.
The boys know the story really well. Caleb is especially interested in the Easter story this year. He was so excited when he found the Palm Sunday story in his Bible after I told him about it last Sunday and they did a craft about it in church. He's been asking so many questions: "Why was Jesus sad?" "Why didn't they like Jesus?" "Why did they take his clothes?" "How did he get his clothes back? (after the resurrection)" When I told him I guess God just gave him new clothes, he said, "No, they were the same ones." Ha! I guess that's what the picture book shows. His little mind doesn't stop. I love that he's so curious. He gets really excited when we read the part about Jesus' resurrection. He has to tell me about that part when we read about the cross. He knows it's the good news. He knows that the darkness on Friday isn't the end of the story. Who wouldn't want to turn the page for the victorious ending?

Photo-a-day: day 28
Matthew has been laughing and cooing at me a lot more lately. It's so cute. I think I found a little tickle spot on his belly. It's hard to get a picture of his full smile and laugh though because he does it the most on the changing table, and when I'm close to his face. So by the time I pull back to take a picture, it's not as big. But it's still cute!

Photo-a-day: day 25
The boys have officially started sharing a room together! The first night, there were quite a few giggles, and a few trips to their room to remind them to be quiet. It took about an hour for them to fall asleep, but that didn't seem too bad. Then the next day for naps was a fiasco. After I put them down, I came downstairs, and I hear over the monitor, "Caleb! Caaaaaleb! Caleb! Caaaaaleeeeb!" Nathan is the instigator. :) I went up, and Caleb said, "I wasn't talking. I just told Nathan to stop when he was calling in my name." Ha! Goodie-two-shoes. :) Then I went back down and was mopping the floors, and heard them talking and moving around. I was going to see if they would eventually fall asleep. So after awhile, I went up to check on them, and I found all of their books covering the whole floor, and them building a pillow tower on top of a basket to try to reach more books on their shelves. Sheesh! So I separated them for nap time, and they slept. They need their naps! But it might take awhile for them to do it together. Last night they fell asleep super fast. Probably because they had short naps, and we had friends over, so they stayed up much later than usual.

Photo-a-day: day 21
These boys are trouble together. This week they've managed to get into so many things. The biggest one being going into Nathan's closet and emptying bins of clothes all over, that were sorted by age and size. AND emptying out several packages of wipes all over in the closet too. I guess I have a new organizing project I wasn't anticipating. It's a little hard to get mad with their hysterical laughing though. I can only imagine how fun it was to be them in the moment throwing clothes and wipes everywhere.
Here is a series of photos from lunch today. Because they sit across from each other, they pretty much try to make each other laugh the whole time and entertain each other. Today, they decided it would be fun to take bites of their mac & cheese, shake their heads with their eyes closed, and then crack up laughing. -sigh- I guess table manners are important, but I choose my battles. :)

Photo-a-day: day 20
Here are the youngest two buddies watching morning cartoons. I love that Nathan plopped down next to Matthew. He always loves to be right next to him. I wondered if Matthew would be able to be as close with the boys because Caleb and Nathan already have such a strong bond, but I know that Matthew is going to jump right in with them and they're all going to be close friends.

I didn't have my camera handy, so I took this with my phone. I loved Caleb's cute sitting position in the hallway reading. And the late afternoon lighting was so pretty.

Had to try to get a picture of Nathan in his crib.
We'll be moving him to his big boy bed soon!
He'll always be my baby. :)

The boys are facinated with Legos - the big kid kind, not the Duplos.
They like to follow building instructions and build cars and planes, with Daddy's help.
They even got to go to Legoland with Nana and Grandpa last week!

Matthew's favorite way to be held.
He gets really calm, and loves to travel around the house checking things out.

We're not smiles all the time. We still get hungry, tired, grumpy,
and embarrassed when we remember our receding hair line.

Photo-a-day: day 8
Whoops! Won't have time to take a picture today. The boys are sick and grumpy. Matthew isn't napping well. And I'm trying to get stuff packed to send Caleb and Nathan off to Dallas with Nana and Grandpa.
So I'm going to use an extra picture I had from yesterday:
The boys were watching the school buses in the morning pull through and drop off the kids at the school across the street. They are like an old married couple sometimes. They argue with each other, come to agreements, laugh and talk about things only they understand. The other day, David was telling them about how he and I were married. And he told Caleb someday maybe he'll find a nice girl and get married. Caleb made this squirmy face and said, "I'm just going to be married to Nathan." Ha! Try not to read too much into that! He just knows they're best friends.
Also, I have to post a phone picture I took of Matthew - his first smile! At just over a month old!
More pictures of Matthew coming this way since the older boys will be at my parents' house this week. :)

Having a big brother is fun. You get cool rides and stuff.
Nathan said, "More!" Caleb said, "No, I'm tired. You're too heavy."

Photo-a-day: day 5
I tried to get a close-up picture of the 3rd set of beautiful brown eyes that stare at me every day. But Caleb does not like his picture taken much these days...unless it's on his terms.
So today he did this, while yelling, "Don't take a picture of me!!"
But I didn't give up. Sweet big beautiful brown eyes.
And a cute profile pic just because.

Photo-a-day: day 4
Reading buddies
Moods can change at the drop of a hat over here. Earlier this morning, they were arguing about everything. They didn't want to share. They taunted each other with control over toys. Caleb said he wanted to play in his room all by himself, and didn't want Nathan anywhere near him. Then a little later they became friends again, and decided to crawl into bed and read books together. I heard them laughing and talking sweetly, so I came in to snap a quick picture. Then moments after this sweet picture was taken, they were fighting over who got to turn the pages, and who got to hold the book. -sigh- :)

Photo-a-day: day 1
Yay! Photo-a-day is back! I can't believe this is the third year I've done it. And I just had my third baby boy! Feel free to go down memory lane and scroll through the pictures from March of the last two years. I did. My, time flies. I can't believe how cute my boys are, and how fast they grow up. And I'm so glad I have all of these pictures to look back on. Makes me so thankful. I cherish all of these moments.
Here is day 1 for 2013 photo-a-day!
Center of attention.
