Caleb Conversations - Keepin' it real

While this conversation might shed an unflattering light on my boy, it totally cracked me up, and I have to share.

I was tucking Caleb into bed, and we were talking about what he did at church that night.  Then out of nowhere...
C: We eat boogies.  And they're good!  (laughing hysterically)
Me: What??!!  That's gross!  Who told you that?  (Thinking he learned it from someone at church.)
C: Me!
Me: You say that??!!
C: Yeah! (laughing)
Me: You eat your boogies??!!  That's gross!  Don't eat boogies!
C: I eat a boogie last night! (laughing so hard)
Me: Did it taste good? (ya know, cause I'm kinda curious what he thought.  hehe.)
C: Yeah.
Me: Well, you don't eat boogies.  That's dirty.

That boy.  Totally wasn't expecting to have that conversation.  Especially because he really doesn't pick his nose often.  I'm just praying he'll outgrow that fascination quickly and won't become the booger kid in school!  ha!

Here are some recent pics of Caleb (and a couple of Nathan too!):

Like I mentioned before, he loooves search and finds.  Here he is doing Where's Waldo with my sister.  I can't believe he can find Waldo on every page!  One of the books is pretty easy because Waldo's whole body is showing.  But the other book has his face is barely sticking out, and Caleb can still find him!

Some pictures from the zoo when the boys stayed with my parents while David and I went to San Diego.

Train at the zoo.  Loves his cool shades.

With Grandpa and Aunt Susie.

Caleb loved the map of the zoo.

Stopping for an ice cream treat.

Doing the penny machine where it smashes your penny with an imprint.

Ok, now instead of Where's Waldo, let's play Where's Caleb!

I had taken the boys on a long walk with just the umbrella stroller, and everyone got tired.  So we piled up!  :)

Caleb Conversations

Caleb says the funniest things - I need to remember to write more of them down.

Here is one from the other day when we were leaving my parent's house in Dallas.

Me: Caleb, are you ready to go home, back to our house?
C (moping): No, I don't want to go home.
Me: Oh, do you want to stay here at Nana and Grandpa's?
C: No.
Me: Where do you want to go?
C: Where Daddy said.
Me: Where did Daddy say?
C: Houston.
Me: Oh!  Well, good news!  We live in Houston!

ha!

And where did my son get this Texas twang??  I'm sure David and I don't have a southern accent.  He pronounces  "down" like "day-own".  And "yeah" like "yay-ah".  And "amen" like "a-meon."  ???   :)

Good Friday

We made an Easter Garden again this year.

I really love doing this.

The boys love it too.  Telling the story.  Hands on.

It got pretty messy.  They were both covered in dirt.  I imagine little girls would probably help me plant the flowers in the garden and listen to the story.  But not boys.  They play with the dirt.  Digs holes.  Throw it all over themselves.  Pluck the flowers out and pull off all the petals.

It makes me cringe a little because it's not how I want it to be.  I'd like a nice neat story with all the pieces in their place.  Not dirt and mess everywhere.

But then I realized it was exactly what it should be.  And a good reminder for me.  The cross was messy.  A horrible bloody mess.

God's mercy on me for the mess I made.  His love.

"He'll drink from the cup of wrath that He pleads the Father to take from Him  — because He doesn't want to us taken from Him.  He takes that unfathomable cup because He can't fathom not taking His Bride."  - Ann Voskamp

Thank you Lord for the cross.  You did for me what I couldn't do for myself.  You made a way.

"Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God."  Hebrew 12:2

Photo-a-day: (outtakes, part 3)

Ok, here are the final pics from last month - the boys together.  :)

wrestling

One of my favorite pics.  Can't believe how tall Nathan is getting next to Caleb.

More wrestling.  :)

Escaping into the shade.

Our most visited playground at the corner of the street.

Photo-a-day: (outtakes, part 2)

Here are some of the other pictures that I took of Caleb this month:

A cool car at the classic car show.

Can you see what he's reading?  "How to Win Friends and Influence People."  hehe.  He read it upside down for a long time, turning the pages, and babbling about what he was reading.  :)

Love that smile!

Kaleidoscope fun!

Mr. Handsome.  I think it's funny when he strikes a pose for me.

He loves to dive from the ottoman onto the couch.  This is the best one I got, but he usually jumps pretty high, and then does a twist in the air to land on his back!

Very happy about his new water bottle.

Caught ya!  Staring at himself in the mirror and making silly faces.
